SSP today announced its results for the year ended 31 March 2009. Operating profit for the SSP group (before amortisation of goodwill, reorganisation, share option expense, interest, and taxation) was £16.4m on revenues of £76.7m, which are up 7.3% and 19.1% respectively compared to the prior year. The results reflect the drive from insurance organisations during the recession to improve operational efficiency and service, whilst reducing their cost base.

SSP has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Absa, one of the largest financial services companies in South Africa, to provide its core insurance IT solution across its entire general & life insurance business. The initial five year contract will generate SSP over $20m in licence fees, services, support & maintenance revenues.

David Rasche, executive chairman of insurance IT provider SSP, has been named Chairman of the Year at the 2009 Quoted Business Awards. This is the second such award for Rasche in as many months - in December he was named Business Leader of the Year at the Yorkshire Post Business Awards.
